I'm writing a new book =)

The working title is Redemption, and it’s about a popular girl who struggles with regret over bullying a boy that ended up committing suicide in their junior year of high school. Now in college two years later, she blames herself for his death. After passing out from drinking, she wakes up and finds herself back in 11th grade, so she tries to set things right and save his life. In the process, she finds love in the most unexpected place.

I’ll probably have it done in…two months? Maybe, lol. I’m trying to work faster than I ever have at writing lately just to prove to myself I can do it.

Just a note on the subject matter, I tend to write things that stray away from the norm or that are unusual in certain respects. Girls bullying boys is sometimes rare…but definitely not unheard of. I figured it’d be a really unique and interesting angle to explore.

Also in Blue Car Racer, it briefly deals with some issues of homosexuality, but more from an angle which makes the character seem like a sociopath because of everything he’s been through. I was hesitant to do that because I didn’t want to offend anybody (though I’m sure I did that enough with the levels of violence, bullying, and swearing I included to make it more true to real teenage life).

Call me crazy, but I really like a certain level of realism in books; meaning I don’t censor the speech or action of the characters if I think it fits. But I do my best to limit where I can.

I’m very excited to write Redemption though because it’s sort of a romance, and I’ve never written a romance before.

Usually my stories end up morbid or there’s too much turmoil and tears. But in regards to this one, all that is technically changing and it’s about if you could go back and do things over again, would you do it? And would you find someone else to love, etc. It’s a story about second chances, and I think a lot of my stories are like that, because I don’t think it’s really ever too late to vindicate yourself of past mistakes and start moving on. And I love the young adult genre. I only hope the readers of the genre will like my stuff since it tends to be rather dark and dramatic lol.

Anyways, I have to go write out some ideas. In the meantime, my very first young adult coming-of-age novel Blue Car Racer is out now on Amazon Kindle if you didn't catch it yet (paperbacks are coming soon, I promise!!). CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT!!

And if you don’t have a Kindle, you can still download the free Kindle program on Amazon so you can read my book on your computer!! =) DO IT!!!

Blue Car Racer is NOW AVAILABLE on Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook!!

I priced it at $0.99 so get it now if you haven't already!! =)

Yes, I chose to redesign the cover at the last minute in between watching Glee the other night because as always, I'm never quite satisfied lol.

Paperbacks are also on the way, which I'm personally more excited for, even though consequentially you make little more from selling that than you do a $0.99 ebook...but at least you don't have to pay very much for CreateSpace besides getting the Pro Plan, which for only $39 allows you to price your paperbacks at $8.99 and get a higher royalty. It's still a good self-publishing route and a FAR better deal than vanity presses.

Anywho, just wanted to throw news of this release out there before I take a shower and head to bed. It's been a long day and it's time for me to think up some marketing strategies before I head off to dream land. Later for now.

Release updates

I should probably be keeping this blog a bit more active than I have. I must admit that I've fallen into the horrible trap of addicting TV shows, most recently Showtime's version of the UK series Shameless. There's also Glee, which is yet another guilty pleasure of mine. I don't care how campy or unrealistic television shows sometimes are. There's just something about them that's so immersing.

Anyway, let me cut the crap. I've been scrambling away at trying to get all my cover art done for the books I have planned so I don't have to do it last minute. Fortunately in between that time, I've also begun work on writing the sequel to my vampire novel The Orphaned Ones. My formula for writing now is that I'll be editing one book while simultaneously writing the next within the same time frame.

That said, my younger sister is currently proofreading/editing Blue Car Racer to catch what I missed during my two edit runs, so hopefully she'll be done within a week or so. After that, I'll apply what changes she made and post it on Amazon Kindle. I'm uncertain as to whether I'll make it DRM-free or not. I might, only because I wouldn't want people to lose it should they ever decide to switch eReaders and want to format it for a new device or make a backup copy.

You never lose your copyright. Sure, you might end up sacrificing sales a bit for being a first-time author, but getting my name out there is equally as important to me as making some money off my work.

I'll say that I should have Blue Car Racer available for purchase no later than the 23rd, but mind you, that's just a rough estimate. I'd say for sure if I could, and I'll be sure to do so in the future since I know it would be annoying not to know when exactly. I'm currently pitching it out for reviews on book blogs, but most of them are busy lately.

As far as The Orphaned Ones goes, I'm shooting for a summer release. The sequel Purgatory Road should be up sometimes in November or December, but hopefully earlier. I'm not good at estimating right now since I don't know how much time I'll have. I have multiple projects planned, so it might get difficult to keep up with everything.

Anyway, that's all the news I have for now. I have to get back to working on Purgatory Road. =)

Oh, and here's an updated cover for The Orphaned Ones:
